Ctc Classic Tea India: What You Need to Know

Our CTC Classic comes from the same garden as our whole leaf teas — grown at altitude in West Garo Hills, where the cooler microclimate and natural rainfall create a more flavourful leaf than the flatter plains estates that supply most commercial CTC. The difference is in the cup: a depth and natural sweetness you do not get from auction-bought commodity CTC.

Most Indian families drink CTC without thinking about where it comes from. This is a chance to keep the same chai ritual — same strong cup, same milk, same morning — but know exactly where your tea grew, who processed it, and that no middlemen took a cut between harvest and your kitchen.

Best for: Everyday chai · Milk tea · Strong morning brew · Families · Office pantry

Taste profile: Bold, malty, full-bodied. Holds milk perfectly. Classic chai character.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is CTC tea?

CTC stands for Cut, Tear, Curl — a mechanical processing method that creates small, uniform pellets from the tea leaf. These extract quickly and fully into boiling water, producing the strong, full-bodied brew that is the foundation of Indian chai.

Is CTC tea good with milk?

Yes — CTC is specifically designed for milk tea. The high tannin concentration in CTC creates a flavour robust enough to cut through milk, unlike whole leaf teas which become weak and watery when milk is added.

How does Meghalaya CTC differ from Assam CTC?

Our West Garo Hills garden sits at altitude with a cooler microclimate than the Assam plains. This produces a leaf with more natural sweetness and complexity, giving our CTC a fuller flavour at the same brew strength as standard Assam CTC.

How much tea per cup?

2g per 180ml of water — roughly one teaspoon. For a stronger cup or when using milk, increase to 2.5g. Unlike whole leaf, CTC should be brewed in boiling water (95–100°C) for 3–4 minutes.

Does it have caffeine?

Yes — CTC tea is naturally high in caffeine, approximately 50–70mg per cup, similar to a standard coffee. This is why it is so effective as a morning brew. If you want a lower-caffeine option after 3pm, try our Blue Tea or Jasmine Green Tea.

Why Choose Our CTC Classic Tea

Our ctc classic tea comes directly from our own garden in West Garo Hills, Meghalaya — no middlemen, no blending, no compromise. Every batch is harvested by our team and processed in our own factory, giving you the freshest possible whole leaf tea at a fair price.

Brewing CTC Classic Tea

Water at 75–85°C. 2g per 180ml. Steep 2–3 minutes. Re-brew up to 3 times, adding 30 seconds per steep. Never boiling water — it creates bitterness and destroys antioxidants.
